Community Engagement

We must make sure that the shop and enterprises meet the needs of our community, and so we spent a lot of time in June and July 2016 talking to people.

We went to see the schoolchildren at Kells School to get their ideas, spent a day in the shop talking to existing customers and visited 12 community groups that meet regularly in New Galloway to talk to them about the project.

If you live in New Galloway, hopefully you got our postcard drop throughout the village featuring the excellent Logo ideas of our Kells pupils. And if you were one of the 143 people who handed in a completed questionnaire to us, then thank you! We also held an Open Morning and an Open Evening in June to allow us to talk to interested people we hadn’t yet reached.

All this information about what the community wants from the project was used to finalise our Business Plan and also went into the final application in the Big Lottery. Thank you all for your support and encouragement and if the grant application is successful, hopefully you’ll see a lot of the ideas generated appear in the final project!

Great shop ideas from some of the Kells Primary School pupils.

Now that funding is confirmed, we still need everybody’s input to shape the Shop and enterprises into something that really works for the community. If you are a Member, we will periodically send you questionnaires to judge your preferences, and if you are a Shop user, you will be able to feedback within the shop.
